Promising Practices: Achieving Health and Social Equity in Tobacco Control

The Health Education Council's Break Free Alliance and the National African American Tobacco Education Network presents their second annual conference, "Promising Practices: Achieving Health and Social Equity in Tobacco Control” on April 27-28, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. This conference hopes to bring together all those seeking to eliminate tobacco-related disparities among priority populations and so far over 250 state and local public administrators, community-based public health professionals, researchers and healthcare providers are registered to attend!

The conference will host a broad selection of breakout sessions in three tracks, "Integrating Tobacco Control into Chronic Disease Programming,” "Yes We Can” – Influencing Policy, Legislation and Health Care Reform” and "Access to Tobacco Prevention, Education and Cessation Services.” In fact, an entire session will be dedicated to expanding the reach of quitline services to priority populations and will feature presentations by Shu-Hong Zhu, PhD, Phillip Gardiner, DrPH, Chris Anderson, Sharon Cummins, PhD, Janet Porter, MPH and Tamatha Thomas-Haase, MPA.
